Mourning the Loss of Israel's Yitzhak Shamir

Former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir died on June 30, he was 96 years old. Just 13 months ago his wife died. I penned a a tribute to Shulamit Shamir that appeared on the Arutz Sheva news website last summer.

Here is a link to my interview with author and talk show host Howard Riell where Riell makes some truly stunning observations about Israel and America:
Former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir lost his wife in August. I wrote a tribute to her and took the opportunity to write about the renewed interest in Israel about the history of the Stern Group ( known in Israel as the LEHI) that the Shamirs were so critical to the success of. Family Security Matters published my short essay on Andy Rooney’s retirement where I suggest that actor/comedian Larry Miller would be a great to join the line-up on 60 Minutes. Miller is a staunch defender of Israel.  See the column here:
The Jewish Federation in Philadelphia owns and operates The Jewish Exponent weekly newspaper. The  editors have long faced criticism from supporters of the Israeli Settlement Movement in particular and politically conservative Jews in general.

I was interviewed by Adam Taxin of Examiner.com about The Exponent and their publishing of columns two weeks in a row (!) by the ADL’s Abe Foxman. Foxman is a truly partisan and polarizing figure. Taxin’s article is here:

The Foxman / Exponent / Federation controversy led to the creation of a program by the Philadelphia Chapter of AFSI / Americans For A Safe Israel called “Jewish Exponent Watch.”
