Jimmy Carter is wrong on the Middle East

MUST READ OF THE DAY

Elliott Abrams responds to Jimmy Carter:

"Most inaccurate of all, and most bizarre, is Carter's claim that "a total freeze of settlement expansion is the key" to a peace agreement. Not a halt to terrorism, not the building of Palestinian institutions, not the rule of law in the West Bank, not the end of Hamas rule in Gaza -- no, the sole "key" is Israeli settlements."

Jimmy Carter's new book on Israel - "error-laden muck"

Jonathan Schanzer rips apart Jimmy Carter's new book "We Can Have Peace in the Holy Land
A Plan That Will Work
" in his MUST READ essay  "Unwelcome Back Carter"

"Jimmy Carter does not apologize for the historically inaccurate and inappropriate use of the word "apartheid" to describe the security wall that has effectively prevented Hamas suicide bombers from killing and maiming Israelis in restaurants and discotheques. He does not acknowledge that it has saved countless lives.

But this should come as no surprise. As with his last book, Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, Carter doesn't even feign a balanced approach to the Arab-Israeli conflict..."

Jimmy Carter cozies up to Syrian and Hamas despots

Jimmy Carter cozies up to Syrian and Hamas despots
Sunday, December 14, 2008 Israel Today Staff

Former US President Jimmy Carter arrived in Syria on Saturday where he declared that relations between the two countries would improve significantly under President-elect Barack Obama.

"I don't have any doubt that the situation will improve between the United States and Syria after we have a new president," Carter told reporters in Damascus following his meeting with Syrian dictator Bashar Assad.

Despite Syria's recently revealed covert nuclear program, its alliance with Iran's current leadership, its support of anti-American insurgents in Iraq and its sponsorship of anti-Israel terror groups, Carter wants the US to positively engage Assad, and is confident Obama will do just that.

Carter also sided with Assad on his position that peace between Israel and its neighbors can never be achieved until the Jewish state surrenders all the land the Arabs claim it illegally occupies.

Carter was scheduled to spend Sunday with Damascus-based Hamas leader Khaled Mashal.

The former president has long rejected the notion that just because Hamas is a recognized terrorist organization openly dedicated to Israel's destruction that it shouldn't be engaged in dialogue.
