Perhaps it is because of a similar history that continues to honor fighting heroes who died, outnumbered, during sieges at venerated sites such as the Alamo and Masada. It may be a love of the Bible. It could be a respect for people that stand tall and love their land in a similar way. It just might have something to do with understanding that common enemies are best faced with friends. My bet is that it is some combination of all of the above. What it all adds up to in Israel is that there is a love and respect for Israel coming from Texas that just may rival Brooklyn.

Whatever the reason Texans were loudly declaring their support for Israel. While so much of the world rushed to critize the Jewish State.

Obama's Year Of Failure in the Middle East

MUST READ OF THE DAY

Caroline Click writes in a brand new article:

At the outset of President Obama's second year in office, his entire Middle East strategy lies in tatters. But Obama appears incapable of learning the lessons of his failures.
Within days of entering office Obama signaled that his presidency would make appeasing America's Middle East adversaries at the expense of its allies its top order of business. Obama gave his first interview with the foreign media to the Al Arabia television network. He waived U.S. sanctions against Syria. He begged Iran's leaders to allow him to appease them.

Will The Bulletin publish this Letter to the Editor?

To the Editor,

I must express my disagreement with Joe Murray's May 27, 2008 opinion column titled "Deceiving The Dispensationalist". I found it to be both badly conceived and poorly written. Rather than correct Murray's consistent lack of logic and factual errors point by point, I would like to quote Chuck Colson from the June 2008 issue of Townhall magazine:

"Israel is the only true democracy in the Middle East — and America's only true ally there. Only Israel allows freedom for all faiths: freedom of the press, freedom for women, and a respect for human life unknown in the Muslim world. Israel is the only country that mourns when America mourns, and that stands up for the same values we do."

For a more balanced idea of the history of the conflict I recommend Murray and his readers examine the late Shmuel Katz's classic book Battleground: Fact and Fantasy in Palestine.

Going to Israel?

Here is my essay that israelnetdaily.com published:

Visiting Israel to mark the Sixtieth anniversary of independence? Been to Israel? Been there and done that? Beyond the Kotel (Western Wall), beyond the Diaspora Museum and the Knesset, and beyond Masada there are places to visit that will help the untold history of Zionism come alive...
