Former '60 Minutes' Commentator Andy Rooney Dies

Former '60 Minutes' commentator Andy Rooney (January 14, 1919 – November 4, 2011) had died at the age of 92.

When it was announced that his final appearance on 60 Minutes would air on October 2, 2011 I wrote an article titled "Who Should Replace Andy Rooney?"

It can be read here:

Comments from Readers RE: Who Should Replace Andy Rooney?

IntellectualConservative.com (a really spectacular site) published my short essay on Andy Rooney’s retirement where I suggest that actor/comedian Larry Miller would be a great choice to join the line-up on 60 Minutes. Miller is a staunch defender of Israel.

See my column here:

Two comments have were posted on
IntellectualConservative.com that I thought worthy of sharing with my readers here:

Yes, I'm aware of all this and I agree that more people need to hear it. The thing that is never mentioned is that Israel is 0.25% of the Middle East, but a tidy little piece of land sitting in an immense land controlled by Arabs. If these so-called Palestinians want a homeland why don’t they look to Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, or Syria?

I think we're asking the wrong question. We shouldn't be replacing Andy Rooney, we should be replacing a much older fogey, namely CBS.

Provocative Viewpoints on Israel & More

Below are links to the four latest articles I have written. A real variety of subjects and ideas. Enjoy!

There's also a link to an article from Examiner.com that I was interviewed.

As always your feedback is welcome.

Here is a link to my interview with author and talk show host Howard Riell where Riell makes some truly stunning observations about Israel and America:

Former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir lost his wife in August. I wrote a tribute to her and took the opportunity to write about the renewed interest in Israel about the history of the Stern Group ( known in Israel as the LEHI) that the Shamirs were so critical to the success of. The article can be found here:

Family Security Matters published my short essay on Andy Rooney’s retirement where I suggest that actor/comedian Larry Miller would be a great to join the line-up on 60 Minutes. Miller is a staunch defender of Israel.  See the column here:

The Jewish Federation in Philadelphia owns and operates The Jewish Exponent weekly newspaper. The  editors have long faced criticism from supporters of the Israeli Settlement Movement in particular and politically conservative Jews in general.

I was interviewed by Adam Taxin of Examiner.com about The Exponent and their publishing of columns two weeks in a row (!) by the ADL’s Abe Foxman. Foxman is a truly partisan and polarizing figure. Taxin’s article is here:

A link to an article I wrote earlier in 2011 mentioning Foxman can be found here:

The Foxman / Exponent / Federation controversy led to the creation of a program by the Philadelphia Chapter of AFSI / Americans For A Safe Israel called “Jewish Exponent Watch.”

I penned the first Exponent Watch report and it can be found here:

AFSI hopes to expand on Exponent Watch and provide a forum for counterpoints to the biases published there each week.
Exponent Watch can be reached through: exponentwatch@gmail.com
