The front cover of the Monday, January 3, 2011 issue of Metro’s
Philadelphia edition showed just how amateurish the newspaper can be:
The headline read: “Swan song starts for Gov. Rendell”
The sub head read: “Philly’s ‘larger than life’ native still has work to do in
last two weeks, aide says”
And just like that the history of Rendell’s New York roots,
his childhood and his adolescence was re-written. He’s not originally from New
York. He’s a Philly native.
In fact Ed Rendell
came to Philadelphia when he started his freshman year at the University of
Pennsylvania.
Maybe ‘Philly native’ means something different in Metro’s
lexicon. Metro, as I have explained previously, has a history of failing to use
such terms as terrorist and militant correctly.
I have written articles about Metro newspapers twice:
In December 2010 about Metro’s failure to cover Pearl Harbor
Day, please see:

In June 2008 about Metro’s “bashing of Israel and the
dissemination of an Orwellian view of terrorists…” please see:

And for my opinion about what we should remember about Fast
Eddie, please see:
