Thank G-d for Israel

Yesterday I went to the funeral and shiva (home based mourning ritual) of an 82 year old survivor of Auschwitz, the Death March and the Warsaw Ghetto. The 89 year old brother of the departed was at the shiva. The 89 year old brother was now the last of a family of seven, he survived Mauthausen. The two brothers were the only members of their immediate family to survive the Holocaust and the war. They both chose to make their lives and to raise their families in America. The 89 year old spoke a little at the shiva. It was very emotional. Among the things he said was just how hopeless the situation was for Polish Jews. Towards the end of the evening he said “if there had been an Israel in the 1930s there would not have been a Holocaust: Thank G-d for Israel.” The youngest grandson of the 82 year old graduated from a yeshiva high school earlier this month. In August he leaves for year of intensive Torah study in Jerusalem. Among the other things the 89 year old said last night was "We are here and Hitler is not. We won."

In defense of Jewish 'settlements' in Israel

MUST READ OF THE DAY

Yisrael Medad writes in the June 28, 2009 L.A. Times that "No one, including a president of the United States of America, can presume to tell me, a Jew, that I cannot live in the area of my national homeland. That's one of the main reasons my wife and I chose in 1981 to move to Shiloh, a so-called settlement less than 30 miles north of Jerusalem."

Israel & the Harmful Fantasy of "2 States for 2 Peoples"

MUST READ OF THE DAY

The Silly and Harmful Fantasy of "Two States for Two Peoples"
By Steven Plaut

Those who support the "Two States for Two Peoples" doctrine, and I suppose that now one must even include Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu in that category, no matter how reluctantly he joined it, have a very simple position. Indeed, the entire "Two States for Two Peoples" doctrine can be summed up in one simple idea, in fact in one simple sentence. It is this:

maybe after the Palestinians get their own state, then they will agree to live in peace with Israel.

No matter how complex and "scholarly" is any article or position paper that supports "Two States for Two Peoples" doctrine, once one clears away the verbiage it all boils down to that one simple idea.

To put it even more strongly, no one who is currently promoting "Two States for Two Peoples" would still be promoting it if they could be persuaded beyond all doubt that the Palestinians would NOT live in peace after getting their own state under "Two States for Two Peoples," or if they discovered with certainty that the second of those states ("Palestine") would be used for nothing other than terrorist aggression. Well, almost no one would…

If Only Israel Wasn’t Jewish

MUST READ OF THE DAY

Aaron Goldstein writes:
The truth is that Israel could dismantle every last outpost, tear down the security fence and give up Jerusalem and for Palestinians it would be as if nothing happened. As long as there is an Israel that exists in any form there will still be Palestinian grievances of one kind or another.  They would find something to be angry about. Meanwhile, liberals in the West would say, "If only Israel wasn't Jewish."  As far as the Palestinians are concerned all of Israel is a Jewish settlement.  The Palestinians will not be satisfied until the state of Palestine supplants the State of Israel and every last Jew is gone.

U.S. Christian Friends of Israel Respond to Obama in Cairo

Response to Obama's Speech! Obama in Egypt; Soaring Rhetoric Masks Sad Reality

Richard Hellman, President of CIPAC, the Christian Lobby for Israel now in its 20th year, has analyzed President Obama's Cairo speech today, June 4, and said that, sadly, his "soaring rhetoric masked a sad reality" that includes:

* An Iranian government that is on the verge of achieving nuclear-arms capability to carry out their genocidal threats to eliminate Jewish Israel, a capability and threat that have been confirmed, not removed, by Obama's offers to talk;
*The bold threat to Israel from the Obama team, is that if Israel does not agree to remove almost one half million Jews from most of biblical Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria (so-called "West Bank"), and the Golan Heights, and turn over all of the holy sites to terrorists, the US will not deal with Iran's nuclear weapons - or let Israel do so; and
*The facts that (1) Iran, Syria, Hamas and Hezbollah's leaders, whom Obama hinted he will work with if they are backed in elections, are still terrorists at war with us and Israel,
(2)The PLO run by the Fatah party, that lost the last PA election in 2006, somehow rules the Arab West Bank with US and IDF help is no better, and cannot deliver peace or security to Israel and America.

Therefore CIPAC continues to lead biblically-based Christian opposition to the failed road map, and the two-state vision by barraging Congress and the White House with the message that it is time to change US policy away from "land for peace" and instead to renewed support of Israel as the Jewish state with due protection of its rights of other peoples and religions - just as stated in Israel's Declaration of Independence 61 years ago, when President Harry Truman recognized the newly reborn state.

Richard Hellman and his wife Miriam are leading a solidarity mission to Israel next week to tell Israelis that they enjoy the broad support of over 100 million Americans and no longer need to give away God-given territory for terror, which is all they have received in their "land for peace" agreements to date. The Hellman's also will convey through the media the dangers to Christian and Jewish rights to worship and to visit the traditional biblical sites that the Obama/Saudi "peace plan" poses.

State Department Continues Islamist Outreach

MUST READ OF THE DAY

With the United States battling Islamist extremists, making America's case
to Muslims around the world has never been more of a priority for
policymakers. Unfortunately, the State Department continues to take a
counterproductive approach: serving as a veritable infomercial promoting
Islamist organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations
(CAIR), the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) and the Islamic Society of
North America (ISNA) while giving the back of the hand to the very
anti-jihadist Muslims that Washington should be cultivating.

The latest example is a State Department booklet issued in March titled
"Being Muslim in America." The 64-page booklet ...
